Employee Masterminds Rs 42 Lakh Robbery in Delhi Mobile Shop

In a shocking case of betrayal, a 23-year-old employee of a wholesale mobile shop in Delhi has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating the theft of Rs 42.39 lakh from his employer. The accused, identified as Suraj, was apprehended from his residence in Mukundpur following an intensive investigation that combined traditional policing with advanced technological tools.

The Midnight Robbery and Investigation Breakthrough

The crime came to light on November 5 when other employees discovered the shop's rear window broken and immediately informed the owner. Upon inspection, the owner confirmed that cash amounting to Rs 42.39 lakh was missing from the premises.

Delhi Police swiftly launched an investigation, examining CCTV footage that revealed four men entering the shop at 2:15 am on November 5 and exiting by 2:50 am. The footage showed the entire operation lasted just 35 minutes.

DCP (Central) Nidhin Valsan provided detailed insights into the investigation: "Their trail was traced up to Kamal T-Point through an auto-rickshaw. Reverse route analysis further showed that the accused had earlier arrived in an e-rickshaw and alighted near Om Bhature at 11:20 pm on November 4."

Technology Leads to Arrest and Recovery

The investigation took a significant turn when police employed advanced facial recognition technology through software applications C-Trace and C-Boat to identify the suspects captured in CCTV footage. After questioning all shop employees and cross-referencing with technical data, investigators narrowed down their focus to Suraj.

Technical analysis confirmed their movement sequence from Ashok Vihar to Shastri Nagar and subsequently towards the place of occurrence, stated DCP Valsan. The evidence revealed consistent communication between Suraj and the other suspects.

During interrogation, Suraj allegedly confessed to his involvement, admitting that as an employee, he knew exactly where the cash was stored. Motivated by greed, he shared this crucial information with his associates who executed the theft.

Police successfully recovered Rs 13.5 lakh of the stolen cash from Suraj's residence during his arrest. However, when a raiding team attempted to apprehend the four identified accomplices in Shahjahanpur, they discovered the suspects had already absconded.

Manhunt Continues for Remaining Suspects

The four other accused have been identified as Rishabh, Avinash, Abhishek and Anil, all residents of Shahjahanpur. Police have launched an extensive manhunt to locate and arrest them.

"Continuous raids, technical surveillance and coordinated efforts are underway in Delhi and adjoining states to apprehend the remaining offenders," assured DCP Valsan, emphasizing the department's commitment to solving the case completely.

The case highlights the growing sophistication of police investigations in Delhi, where traditional detective work combines with cutting-edge technology like facial recognition to solve complex crimes. It also serves as a cautionary tale for business owners about implementing robust security measures and conducting thorough background checks when hiring employees who handle significant amounts of cash.
