Man arrested for threatening Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi in viral video

Gaya: Cyber police in Gaya have arrested a man accused of issuing threats to Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi in a viral social media video, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sushil Kumar said on Friday. He said the accused, Rajendra Rao alias Sardar, a resident of Maroofganj under Malsalami police station area in Patna district, was apprehended on Thursday night from the Laheri police station area in Nalanda district by a special cyber police team.

Action Initiated After Video Surfaced

Addressing a press conference, cyber police station house officer-cum-deputy superintendent of police, Abdur Rahman Danish, said action was initiated soon after the video surfaced on Wednesday. On the direction of Magadh range IG Vikas Vaibhav and SSP Sushil Kumar, a case was registered and a special investigation team was formed.

Arrest and Interrogation

Following technical analysis and digital tracking, the team traced Rao’s location and made the arrest. “He was subsequently brought to Gaya under security and is currently being interrogated. Investigations are underway to ascertain whether the accused has links with any organisation or individual, and whether the video was uploaded independently or at the behest of others as part of a wider conspiracy,” the SSP added.
