Raipur Police Arrest Man for Brandishing Cleaver, Video Goes Viral

In a swift response to a viral social media video, the Raipur police have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly intimidating the public with a large steel cleaver at Amatalab Bagicha Para in the Ramkund area. The arrest followed the wide circulation of the video, which showed the accused threatening residents with the weapon, causing alarm in the community.

Suspect Identified and Apprehended

A police team led by the Azad Chowk Station House Officer (SHO) identified the suspect as Bhavesh Janghel, also known as Rahul. The police apprehended Janghel and recovered the steel cleaver seen in the video from his possession. Janghel is a resident of Ramkund Bagicha Para under the Azad Chowk police station limits in Raipur district.

Legal Action Taken Under Arms Act

The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, with Crime No. 34/26. This legal action underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating the incident, aiming to deter such public threats and ensure community safety.

Committee Formed to Investigate Stunt Case

In a related development, the Surajpur District Education Officer (DEO) informed TOI that a three-member committee has been formed to probe the stunt case. The committee comprises the tehsildar, the block education officer, and a government school principal. It is tasked with submitting its report within three days, highlighting the multi-departmental approach to addressing such incidents.
