Man Suspecting Wife's Infidelity Chops Off Her Leg, Surrenders with Severed Limb in Palnadu
In a shocking and gruesome incident that has sent shockwaves through Palnadu district, a man allegedly attacked his wife with a firewood axe, severing her leg, before surrendering to police with the severed limb. According to Muppalla police officials, the accused, Vallepu Lakshmaiah, a daily wage labourer residing in Vaddera Colony, had long harbored suspicions about his wife's fidelity. Lakshmaiah believed his 33-year-old wife, V Bhulakshmi, was involved in an extramarital affair, a suspicion that had been a persistent source of conflict between the couple.
The tension reached a breaking point on Thursday morning when yet another argument erupted between Lakshmaiah and Bhulakshmi. What began as a verbal confrontation quickly escalated into unimaginable violence when Lakshmaiah, consumed by rage, grabbed a firewood axe and launched a brutal attack on his wife.
Horrific Attack and Immediate Aftermath
Witnesses described a scene of pure terror as Lakshmaiah struck Bhulakshmi repeatedly with the axe, ultimately severing her right leg completely from her body. The attack left Bhulakshmi, a homemaker, critically injured and bleeding profusely on the ground.
In a bizarre and chilling turn of events, Lakshmaiah then picked up the severed limb and walked to the Muppalla police station, where he calmly surrendered to authorities while still carrying the gruesome evidence of his crime. Sub-inspector K Anil Kumar immediately took Lakshmaiah into custody, securing both the suspect and the severed leg as evidence.
Race to Save the Victim
Meanwhile, alert neighbors who had witnessed or heard the attack rushed to Bhulakshmi's aid, transporting her to Guntur Government General Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Recognizing the severity of her injuries, her family later arranged for her transfer to NRI Medical College Hospital in Mangalagiri, seeking more advanced surgical capabilities.
Medical teams at both facilities worked frantically to stabilize Bhulakshmi and assess the possibility of reattaching her severed leg. Doctors reported that her condition is gradually improving, though she remains under close observation in critical care. Medical professionals emphasized they are making every effort to save both Bhulakshmi's life and her limb, with the next 48 hours being crucial for her recovery.
