Police identified the victim as Kailash Gurjar, a resident of Pancholi village. He was walking towards the Manpur Chauraha market around 11 am when a crane approached from behind at high speed.
The crane struck him with immense force, throwing him onto the road. The vehicle then ran over him, causing fatal injuries. A senior officer from Manpur police station confirmed the man died on the spot due to severe head trauma.
Scene of the Accident
The accident was described as extremely brutal. The victim's body was badly mutilated and stuck to the road surface. Blood splattered across the service road, creating panic among passers-by who witnessed the gruesome scene.
Police responded quickly after receiving information. They reached the spot and took the body into custody for further procedures.
Legal Action and Investigation
Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased's son, Tulsiram, authorities registered a case. Efforts are now underway to trace the crane driver, who fled the scene after the accident.
CCTV footage from the area corroborated the sequence of events. It showed the crane driver operating the vehicle recklessly on the service lane, leading to the fatal collision.
Local Concerns Over Safety
Residents in the area expressed serious concerns about the frequent movement of heavy vehicles on the service road near Manpur Chauraha. They highlighted a persistent safety issue that has gone unaddressed.
Locals alleged that several sandstone units along the highway contribute to the problem. Vehicles such as cranes, dumpers, and other heavy machinery ply on the service road throughout the day, increasing the risk for pedestrians.
This incident has reignited calls for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and better infrastructure to protect commuters and pedestrians on busy highways.
