The case traces its origins to a First Information Report (FIR) filed by Barwill Singh Sari at the Ummulong Beat House. The FIR detailed that on the morning of September 8, 2006, around 5 am, Stam Surong, a resident of Mukhla Nongrim village, doused his wife, Before Sari, with kerosene oil and set her ablaze inside their home.
