Man Hacked to Death in Tirunelveli Over Alleged Extramarital Affair
A 37-year-old man was brutally hacked to death in Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu, on Monday, in a shocking incident allegedly stemming from an extramarital affair. The victim, identified as Sundar, a resident of Anaiyappapuram, worked as a document writer with his office located in Moolakaraipatti.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to police reports, Sundar was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with Muthumari, a woman from Moolakaraipatti. This relationship led to significant domestic upheaval, with Muthumari leaving her husband and moving in with Sundar at Itteri, along with her children. Concurrently, Sundar's wife also left him, further complicating the situation.
On Monday morning, as Sundar was on his way to his office, he was intercepted by Muthumari's husband, Manikandan, 37, and his brother, Sudalai, 34. In a violent attack, the duo hacked Sundar with a sickle. Police personnel quickly reached the spot and rushed the critically injured Sundar to Palayamkottai Government Hospital. Despite medical efforts, Sundar succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Police Action and Legal Proceedings
The Munnirpallam police have registered a case in connection with the murder. In a subsequent development, Manikandan and Sudalai surrendered before the Moolakaraipatti police. Following their surrender, both suspects were remanded in judicial custody as the investigation continues.
