Thiruvananthapuram: Museum police on Saturday arrested a 49-year-old man for allegedly attempting to murder his landlord after being asked to pay house rent. The accused, identified as Premkumar of Valiamala, was taken into custody in connection with the violent attack that occurred around 10pm on Thursday at Nandancode.
Background of the Incident
According to police, the incident stemmed from a dispute over unpaid rent. Investigators said the accused allegedly barged into the landlord's residence in a fit of rage after being questioned about the rent dues. He reportedly abused the landlord before attacking him with a wooden plank.
Injuries and Medical Treatment
The victim sustained injuries to both hands, head, and face. The landlord is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Police said the attack was treated as an attempted murder case.
Legal Proceedings
Following the arrest, the accused was produced before a local court, which remanded him in judicial custody. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for attempted murder and other charges.
The swift action by the Museum police led to the arrest of the accused within two days of the incident. Further investigations are ongoing to gather more evidence and witness statements.
