Man Detained in Gujarat for Alleged Death Threats to Bihar CM Samrat Chaudhary

A 32-year-old man was detained from Ahmedabad in Gujarat on Friday for allegedly issuing death threats to Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary over a phone call to his residence in Munger district.

Viral Audio Clip Triggers Police Action

The action was initiated based on a viral audio clip that came to the attention of Munger police on April 15. An FIR was registered immediately at Sangrampur police station in Munger regarding the incident.

Munger SP Syed Imran Masood stated, "Sangrampur police station received an audio clip on April 15 in which a man used objectionable language and threatened the CM. The same person also called the CM's house from his mobile and issued a death threat. A case was registered immediately and the probe began."

Joint Police Operation Leads to Arrest

Bihar and Gujarat police jointly tracked the accused's mobile location and apprehended Shekhar Yadav from Sanand in Ahmedabad. The accused, a native of Banka district in Bihar, was working as a truck driver in Ahmedabad at the time of his arrest.

SP (Ahmedabad rural) Om Prakash Jat confirmed, "He confessed to the crime during interrogation. Further investigation, including the motive behind issuing threats, will be carried out by the Bihar police."

Gujarat Police arrested Yadav and handed him over to their Bihar counterparts. He is being brought to Bihar on transit remand for further questioning.

Background of the Accused

Shekhar Yadav is a resident of Khalaud village under Belhar police station area of Banka district. He is the son of Krishna Yadav and had been living away from his family for over one year prior to his arrest.

Police investigation revealed that Yadav is married with three children. His wife and children are living in their village with his elderly parents. According to authorities, his wife has been sick and bedridden for the last year, and the accused had not met his family members for over a year.

Motive and Circumstances

During interrogation, Yadav claimed that he issued the death threat in anger because no action was taken on his assault case in Bihar. SP Om Prakash Jat explained, "The accused, a Banka native, claimed that he issued the death threat in anger because no action was taken on his assault case in Bihar."

Yadav stated that he received a call from an unknown number, during which he got into an argument with another person. In the heat of the moment, he used objectionable and threatening language against the Chief Minister.

Recording and Circulation of Threats

The viral audio clip that brought the incident to light was recorded by a third person to whom Yadav was speaking during the phone call. This individual recorded the conversation and circulated it on social media, where it gained attention.

In the recording, Yadav allegedly used objectionable language against the CM and revealed that he had also issued a death threat directly to the Chief Minister's residence.

Police Assessment of the Incident

Police officials indicated that, prima facie, the incident appears to have occurred in a fit of rage rather than being part of any pre-planned conspiracy. The accused is not associated with any political party or suspicious organization.

SP Syed Imran Masood added, "Yadav also does not have any such criminal history, but a case of assault against him was registered at Belhar police station about a year back. He claimed to have used objectionable language and issued the threats due to injustice in that assault case."

The investigation continues as Bihar police take over the case for further examination of motives and circumstances surrounding the threats against the Chief Minister.
