Shocking Family Murder in Karnataka: Son Accused of Killing Parents and Sister, Burying Bodies at Home
In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves across Karnataka, a man has been accused of murdering his own parents and younger sister before burying their bodies within their rented accommodation. The suspect then traveled approximately 300 kilometers to state capital Bengaluru to file a missing persons complaint, in what police describe as a calculated attempt to mislead authorities.
Gruesome Discovery and Police Investigation
The Bengaluru police made a horrifying discovery on Saturday when they exhumed three bodies from the living room floor of a house in Kottur town, Vijayanagara district. The exhumation was conducted in the presence of the suspected murderer, identified as Akshay B J, who had earlier approached the Tilak Nagar police station in Bengaluru with a missing complaint.
According to police officials, Akshay allegedly killed his father Bhimaraj H (52), mother Jayalakshmi J alias Jayamma (50), and sister Amrutha (18) on Tuesday. The family, originally from Nayakanahatti village in Chitradurga district, had been living in Kottur for several years after relocating for work, with Bhimaraj operating a tyre shop in the town.
Deceptive Missing Complaint and Police Suspicion
The case took a dramatic turn when Akshay visited the Tilak Nagar police station around 7:30 PM on Thursday, claiming his parents and sister had gone missing after visiting Jayadeva Hospital in Bengaluru for a medical check-up. Police initially registered a missing complaint based on his statement but soon noticed significant inconsistencies in his account.
"When Akshay came to the police station, he said that his parents and sister came to Jayadeva hospital in Bengaluru to get a check-up done and went missing," a police officer revealed. "We believed his version and registered a missing complaint. But there were a lot of inconsistencies in his statement. We also checked with Jayadeva hospital authorities, and they said that no patient with those names came to the hospital on the specific day."
Technical Evidence and Confession
The investigation gained momentum when technical analysis traced Bhimaraj's mobile phone to the Tilak Nagar police station area, and the device was recovered from Akshay's possession. This crucial evidence led to intensive interrogation during which Akshay eventually confessed to the triple murder.
Police sources indicate that Akshay initially claimed he had thrown the bodies into a lake, but later admitted to burying them within the house. A senior officer detailed the possible sequence of events: "It appears that Jayamma was initially murdered. Next, Amrutha was killed upon reaching the house. At last, Bhimaraj reached home, and he, too, was killed. Later, in the night, Akshay dug up the floor of the living room and dumped the bodies. He used a perfume to prevent foul smell from spreading."
Family Reactions and Ongoing Investigation
The tragedy has devastated extended family members. Suresh Babu, younger brother of the deceased Bhimaraj, revealed that Akshay had called him on Thursday with the same missing persons story. According to Suresh Babu, Akshay even claimed that hospital staff had confiscated Amrutha's phone because she recorded video on hospital premises.
S Jahnavi, Superintendent of Police for Vijayanagara district, confirmed to media that all three bodies were buried together at the same location. "Presently, the investigation is being conducted by the Tilak Nagar police, and the motive will be revealed only after they investigate. When the case is handed over to the local police station, we will check," she stated.
The Bengaluru police continue their investigation to establish the precise motive behind this horrific family tragedy, while forensic teams work to gather additional evidence from the crime scene.
