Man Commits Suicide Outside In-Laws' House in Etawah After Alleged Affair Dispute

A tragic incident unfolded in Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh, when a 45-year-old man shot himself dead outside his in-laws' residence in Hallupura village on Tuesday night. Police have identified the deceased as Anil Kumar, a labourer from Karhal in Mainpuri district, who allegedly took his own life after a woman he was having an affair with did not open the door for him.

Background of the Deceased and Family Ties

Anil Kumar had been married in Hallupura approximately two decades ago and was the father of two children. His wife passed away two years ago, leaving him to navigate life alone. According to police reports, Kumar had been involved in a relationship for about 12 years with Lakshmi, a 40-year-old woman who is the wife of his brother-in-law, Satyanarayan. This long-standing affair had been a source of ongoing conflict within the family.

History of Conflicts and Previous Incidents

Investigators revealed that after his wife's death, Kumar began insisting on living with Lakshmi, which escalated tensions with Satyanarayan and led to repeated disputes. Neighbours provided accounts of a past incident around 10 years ago when Kumar eloped with Lakshmi from her in-laws' home, taking her to Delhi. However, their time together was marked by frequent arguments, and Lakshmi eventually returned to her husband's village in Hallupura.

About three months prior to the suicide, Kumar returned to Hallupura in an attempt to take Lakshmi with him again. This led to a confrontation between the two sides, prompting police intervention. A compromise was reached at that time, and Kumar left the village, but the underlying issues remained unresolved.

Details of the Fatal Night

On Tuesday night, Kumar came back to Hallupura. Lakshmi told police that he called out at the house, but she did not hear him. She stated she was alone when she heard a gunshot. Upon going outside, she discovered Kumar lying in a pool of blood near the main gate. Neighbours, alerted by the gunfire, immediately informed the police.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shrishchand arrived at the scene with a team, questioned Lakshmi and local residents, and oversaw evidence collection by a forensic team. Police confirmed that Kumar died on the spot after placing a pistol to his temple and firing. A pistol was found nearby, corroborating the initial findings.

Police Investigation and Ongoing Probe

The incident occurred in the Bakewar police station area, located about 26 kilometers from the district headquarters. Station In-charge Vipin Kumar Malik stated that the initial probe indicates suicide, but all angles are being thoroughly examined. Further action will depend on the post-mortem report, which is awaited to provide more clarity on the circumstances surrounding the death.

This case highlights the severe consequences of prolonged personal conflicts and underscores the need for community support and intervention in such sensitive matters. Authorities continue to investigate to ensure all aspects are covered, with a focus on understanding the full context of the tragedy.
