Gorakhpur: In a tragic incident, a man allegedly shot his sister-in-law dead before turning the gun on himself in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district on Wednesday morning. The accused had arrived at his in-laws' house in the Tamkuhiraj area from Bihar on a motorcycle and called the girl to a room, police said.
Incident Details
According to police, Jitendra Prajapati (27), a resident of Gopalganj district in Bihar, first shot his 18-year-old sister-in-law Naina Kumari in the temple at point-blank range and later shot himself. Sources revealed that Prajapati had married Naina's elder sister nine months ago and subsequently started an affair with Naina.
Family members rushed to the room upon hearing gunshots but found the door locked from inside. When they peered through a window, they saw both individuals lying in a pool of blood. Police broke open the door and sent the bodies for postmortem examination.
Police Investigation
Police stated that Prajapati had reached his in-laws' house around 7 am and was welcomed by the family. About an hour later, he called Naina into a room. A country-made pistol was recovered from the scene. Officials collected forensic evidence, and further investigation is underway.
Circle Officer (CO) Jayant Yadav said, "Action will be taken based on the complaint filed by the family. Forensic teams collected evidence from the room as part of the investigation."
