A man was found murdered near Zundal in Chandkheda on Tuesday morning. Police suspect he was attacked late Monday night after he left his house on a motorcycle. His body bore multiple injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon.
Victim Identification
The deceased was identified as Jashmat Singh Sikhligar, a resident of Pethapur in Gandhinagar district, who was engaged in pig-catching work, police said. His body was discovered on a kutcha road near the compound wall of a cement products factory in the Zundal area.
Sequence of Events
According to the FIR lodged with Chandkheda police, the victim left home around 7pm on Monday on his motorcycle and did not return through the night. His family repeatedly tried to contact him but his phone remained unanswered.
On Tuesday morning, family members received a call from police informing them about an incident involving the victim. They later reached the spot near Zundal, where they saw his body lying in a pool of blood.
Injuries and Evidence
Police said the victim suffered grievous injuries to the chest, back, fingers, thumb and underarms, allegedly inflicted with a sharp weapon. His motorcycle was found parked outside the residence of a woman known to him in the area.
Allegations and Investigation
In the complaint, the victim's wife alleged that a woman had been threatening and blackmailing him over money matters for the past few years. She further claimed that the woman had earlier threatened to get him killed through her relatives.
Based on the complaint, police have named three persons whose possible involvement is being probed. However, the FIR has currently been registered with Chandkheda police against unidentified persons for murder, and investigators are examining all angles, including personal rivalry and past disputes.
