A 40-year-old man was brutally murdered with sharp-edged weapons at Shekhpur Kishanpur village under the Maharajpur police station in Kanpur. The victim, identified as Kali Shankar, was the sole breadwinner of his family. His family members have accused a man living in the neighborhood of the murder.
Incident Details
The elder daughter Nisha stated that around 10:30 pm on Wednesday, neighbor aunt Ramdulari came running to their house and informed them that Kali Shankar was lying near the Shiv temple, drenched in blood. She recounted, 'When we reached there, we saw that papa's neck was cut and he was bleeding profusely. He died while being taken to the hospital.'
The family comprises mother Shanti, wife Kisana, daughters Nisha, Manisha, and Shagun, and the youngest son Raj. Kali Shankar was the sole earner, and his death has left the family in a state of shock and financial distress.
Police Investigation
Family members noted that blood marks trail in the direction in which the accused fled after committing the murder. They have accused a youth living in the neighborhood of the crime. Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
DCP East Satyajit Gupta informed that at around 11:20 pm on Wednesday, information was received on Dial 112 about a young man seriously injured after being attacked on his neck with a sharp-edged weapon in Kishanpur village. Police immediately reached the spot and, with the help of family members, transported the victim to Hallet Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Arrests and Interrogation
Based on the written complaint of the deceased's family members, four persons from the family have been taken into custody and are being interrogated. The police are examining the evidence, including the trail of blood, to piece together the sequence of events and identify the perpetrators.
