A man and his 12-year-old son were killed in a road accident near Fatehbad village on the Tarn Taran-Goindwal Sahib road on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Kuldeep Singh (45) and his son Gurjot Singh, residents of Bhullar village. The accident occurred when Kuldeep Singh was traveling on a motorcycle from his village to Goindwal Sahib for work. After crossing Fatehbad village, his motorcycle was allegedly struck by a speeding vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Both victims died at the scene.
Family Accuses Police of Mishandling Case
The bereaved family has accused the police of not taking the case seriously. Lakhwinder Singh, the deceased's brother, alleged that the number plate of the offending vehicle was recovered from the accident site, but the police deliberately registered the case against an unidentified person. Following the incident, the family and local residents staged a protest on the road and blocked traffic, demanding action against the accused.
Police Response and Investigation
ASI Paramjit Singh of the Goindwal Sahib police station said a case has been registered against an unidentified person under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the accident. He added that efforts were underway to trace and arrest the accused. The protest continued until late evening, causing significant disruption on the road. Authorities have appealed for calm and assured a thorough investigation.
