Man Stabbed in Mumbai Local Train Over Seat Dispute

A 26-year-old man was allegedly stabbed and assaulted by a group of youths aboard a moving Mumbai local train following a dispute over a seat in the luggage compartment. Within hours of the incident, police arrested two suspects and launched a search for a third.

Incident Details

The incident occurred on Thursday morning on a train traveling from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Khopoli, according to officials. The victim, identified as Satish Kumar Bolamani Pathak, a resident of Masjid Bunder, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Sequence of Events

According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the altercation began after the train crossed Vangani station. Pathak reportedly argued with a group of youths over a seat in the luggage compartment. The dispute quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which the accused assaulted Pathak. One of the attackers then stabbed him in the stomach with a knife, as reported by PTI.

Arrests and Investigation

Acting on a tip-off, Karjat GRP arrested Imran Idris Ansari (18), a resident of Neral, and Karan Kanhaiyalal Agrawal (22), a resident of Shelu, within 12 hours of the incident. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest another accused involved in the attack. Further investigation is in progress.
