Mumbai: A 38-year-old man was stabbed to death by two inebriated men after he flashed a torchlight on them in Mankhurd on Tuesday, according to police. The deceased, identified as Vilas Sahebrao Waghale, was attacked near Bet Maidan close to PMGP Colony and Gurukrupa Hospital. Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the incident.
Details of the Incident
According to authorities, Vilas went to the ground after dinner when he noticed three residents—Rajesh Ladhe, Dhananjay alias Dhasa Ladhe, and Sagar Kapase—sitting there. When Vilas flashed a torch in their direction to see who was present, the accused allegedly became enraged and began assaulting him.
During the altercation, Rajesh reportedly pulled out a knife and threatened to kill Vilas before stabbing him in the stomach. Hearing the commotion, another resident rushed to the spot and took the injured Vilas first to Shatabdi Hospital and later to Sion Hospital for further treatment.
Victim's Brother Files Complaint
The victim’s brother stated in the complaint that Vilas initially planned to lodge a police complaint but delayed doing so after discussions with relatives. On Tuesday, doctors at Sion Hospital informed the family that Vilas died during treatment around 12:30 pm. Based on the complaint, Mankhurd police registered a murder case against the three accused, and an investigation is underway.
