Man stabs teen over sister's relationship, throws body in drain

NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old man and his associate allegedly stabbed a juvenile multiple times over his relationship with the man’s sister and threw him into a drain in west Delhi’s Meera Bagh, resulting in his death, police said on Friday. Police have arrested one of the accused, identified as Mandeep alias Monu (26), who was wanted in the case registered at Paschim Vihar East police station.

Incident Details

According to a senior police officer, Monu and his associate targeted the victim because the victim was in a relationship with the sister of one of the accused. On May 18, the duo allegedly persuaded the boy to accompany them on the pretext of having a conversation. They then took him to the Ganda Nala area in Meera Bagh, where they allegedly stabbed him four times.

Attempt to Dispose of Body

Believing that the victim was dead, the accused allegedly threw him into a drain to dispose of the body and cover up the crime before fleeing the spot, the officer said. The incident came to light on May 19 after police received a PCR call about a severely injured boy lying in the area. The victim was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri, where doctors found multiple stab wounds on his body.

Before losing consciousness, the juvenile identified his attackers as Shivam and Mandeep alias Monu, following which a case was registered and an investigation was launched.

Arrest and Investigation

The crime branch team tracked down and arrested Monu near Bakkarwala Mor on the Najafgarh-Nangloi Road on Thursday. During interrogation, he allegedly disclosed that his cousin Shivam had objected to the victim's relationship with his sister and wanted to kill him, police said. The two then hatched a plan and attacked the victim.

Police said Monu, a resident of Uttam Nagar, was previously involved in three criminal cases, including two armed robbery cases and an assault case. He was released from jail around two months ago after serving time in earlier cases. Efforts are underway to arrest the co-accused, police added.
