A man in Amritsar surrendered to the police after allegedly killing his brother and sister-in-law over a property dispute. The incident took place in the Majitha area on Tuesday evening.
Details of the Incident
The accused, identified as Gurpreet Singh, reportedly had a long-standing feud with his brother, Sukhwinder Singh, and his sister-in-law, Balwinder Kaur, over ancestral property. On Tuesday, the argument escalated, leading Gurpreet to attack them with a sharp-edged weapon. Both Sukhwinder and Balwinder died on the spot.
Surrender and Legal Action
After the attack, Gurpreet Singh went to the police station and confessed to the crime. He was immediately taken into custody. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating the matter.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. The police are also recording statements from neighbors and family members to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
