A man was booked by Panipat City Police after he threw bundles of currency notes from a flyover on National Highway-44 in Panipat, allegedly to create a viral social media reel. The incident caused traffic disruption as pedestrians and motorists rushed to collect the cash.

Incident Details

The incident took place on a flyover on the Delhi-Ambala National Highway (NH-44) in Panipat. The exact date remains unknown. A viral video shows a man standing near the railing of the flyover and throwing bundles of mostly Rs 10 notes onto the road below. Several children, aged between 10 and 12 years, were seen accompanying him.

Chaos on the Road

As the notes fluttered down onto the service lane, commuters, pedestrians, and auto-rickshaw drivers scrambled to collect the money. Many stopped their vehicles in the middle of the road, leading to temporary traffic congestion. Fortunately, no accidents or injuries were reported despite the risky situation.

Police Action

Devender Kumar, SHO of Panipat City Police, stated that a case has been registered against the unidentified individual seen in the video for causing chaos and endangering lives. “We have taken cognisance of the viral video and registered a case. Efforts are underway to identify and trace the accused. Strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for putting public lives at risk,” he said.

Appeal to Citizens

The SHO appealed to citizens to avoid activities that violate traffic regulations or endanger lives while filming videos for social media platforms.
