Ghaziabad Man Previously Known for Slapping Kanhaiya Kumar Arrested in Holi Molestation Case

In a significant development from Ghaziabad, a man who gained notoriety two years ago for slapping Congress functionary Kanhaiya Kumar has been apprehended by police on serious charges of molesting a woman during Holi celebrations. The accused, identified as Daksh Chaudhary, a resident of Ghaziabad, was arrested on Wednesday along with an associate named Akku Pandit.

Violent Holi Celebration Turns Criminal

The incident occurred in the Ankur Vihar area of Ghaziabad during Holi festivities. According to police reports, the 34-year-old victim was celebrating the festival with her family members at approximately 3 PM when the alleged assault took place. The accused individuals, who were creating a disturbance in the colony, reportedly targeted the woman and her family.

"The accused also tore the complainant's sister's clothes and misbehaved with her badly during the Holi celebrations," stated the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Ankur Vihar police station following the woman's formal complaint.

Previous Controversial History with Political Figure

Daksh Chaudhary had previously made headlines in May 2024 when he physically assaulted Kanhaiya Kumar, who was then the Congress party's Lok Sabha candidate from North East Delhi. This earlier incident had drawn significant media attention and public scrutiny.

Both Chaudhary and Pandit are reported to be members of the Hindu Raksha Dal (HRD), an organization that has been involved in previous controversies. Notably, on December 30, 2025, an FIR was registered against Chaudhary and 45 other members of this outfit for allegedly distributing swords and other sharp weapons.

Multiple Charges Filed Against Accused

Assistant Commissioner of Police Gyan Prakash Rai confirmed that a comprehensive case has been registered against Daksh Chaudhary, Akku Pandit, and other unknown persons under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The charges include:

  • Section 74: Assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty
  • Section 352: Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace
  • Section 76: Assault or use of criminal force to women with intent to disrobe
  • Section 351(2): Punishment for criminal intimidation
  • Section 115(2): Voluntarily causing hurt

Victim's Harrowing Account of the Incident

The victim provided a detailed account of the traumatic experience to authorities. "Apart from Akku and Daksh, the names of the other people are not known. Some of them pulled out a pistol and pointed it at us and some men also had swords," she recounted in her statement.

She further described how the situation escalated: "We called 112 after which some of them fled. Their associates badly beat up a man, due to which he sustained a head injury." The emergency call to police helpline 112 prompted some of the assailants to flee the scene, while others remained and continued their violent behavior.

The woman emphasized that the assault began when some individuals approached her family during their Holi celebration and first assaulted a male family member before turning their attention to her with abusive language and inappropriate behavior.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about public safety during festival celebrations and raises questions about repeat offenders with political connections. Police investigations are continuing to identify additional individuals involved in the incident who remain at large.
