According to official statements, the victim has been identified as Aman, a 22-year-old resident of Loni in Ghaziabad. Aman had been incarcerated in jail number 13 since 2024, facing charges in a murder case related to GTB Enclave. The violent episode occurred around 11:00 AM on April 6 as Aman was moving from his barrack to the e-mulakat (video call) room located on the second floor.
Near the control room area, Aman was intercepted by three fellow inmates: Zuaib, Shoaib alias Sadab, and Manikant. In his detailed statement recorded on April 8 at Mandoli jail, Aman alleged that Zuaib had a longstanding personal enmity with him stemming from a murder case involving his maternal cousin. This hostility had previously led to multiple altercations between the two.
During the confrontation, Zuaib reportedly declared his intention to assault Aman inside the jail premises before allegedly attacking him with a sharp, knife-like object. The initial blow caused Aman to fall to the ground. As he attempted to escape, all three inmates allegedly overpowered him again.
Nature of Injuries Sustained
The attack resulted in significant injuries to Aman. According to medical examination reports, Zuaib and Shoaib allegedly repeatedly struck Aman on the chest and neck with sharp objects, while Manikant allegedly inflicted multiple injuries on his thigh. Jail staff intervened upon hearing the commotion and managed to separate the involved parties.
Aman was initially treated at the jail hospital before being referred to GTB Hospital for further medical attention. The medical examination documented several injuries including:
- Abrasions on the left chest area
- Multiple stab-like injuries on the thigh
