Mandya Police Crack Major Theft Ring, Recover Property Worth Rs 2.2 Crore

In a significant law enforcement breakthrough, the Mandya district police have successfully arrested 28 individuals allegedly involved in a series of theft cases reported across nine police stations between 2025 and 2026. The coordinated operation marks a major victory in combating property crime in the region.

Massive Recovery of Stolen Assets

The police operation led to the recovery of stolen property valued at approximately Rs 2.2 crore. The recovered items include substantial quantities of gold jewellery, silver articles, multiple vehicles, and cash. On Saturday, the police formally returned these recovered possessions to their rightful owners during a ceremony held at the District Police Bhavan.

Superintendent of Police VJ Shobharani announced that the police have successfully solved 39 theft-related cases spanning the Mandya, Srirangapatna, Nagamangala, and Malavalli subdivisions. The detailed inventory of recovered property includes:

Remarkable Incident of Citizen Bravery

Police officials highlighted an extraordinary incident in Juganahalli village where a 62-year-old woman demonstrated remarkable courage during an attempted robbery. When four armed men attempted to rob her, she sustained injuries but managed to defend herself by throwing chilli powder at the attackers. Her brave resistance not only protected her property but also provided crucial evidence that helped police trace and subsequently arrest the suspects.

Additional Police Successes

In another significant achievement, the Nagamangala police recovered gold jewellery worth more than Rs 1.1 crore after intercepting four suspects near Devalapura Handpost. This interception represents one of the largest single recoveries in the broader operation.

The police operation saw participation from additional superintendents of police CE Thimmaiah and SE Gangadharaswamy, who were present during the property return ceremony. Their involvement underscores the coordinated effort across multiple police divisions to address the theft epidemic in the region.

The comprehensive crackdown demonstrates enhanced police coordination and investigative capabilities in Mandya district. By solving 39 cases and recovering substantial stolen property, law enforcement has delivered a significant blow to organized theft operations while restoring valuable assets to affected citizens.
