Brutal Roadside Murder Sends Shockwaves Through Mandya District
A shocking incident of violence unfolded late Saturday night near Amruthi village in Melukote hobli, Pandavapura taluk of Mandya district, when a known rowdy-sheeter was brutally murdered by assailants armed with lethal weapons. The gruesome attack occurred in the middle of the road around midnight, creating panic among local residents who have demanded immediate action from authorities.
Victim Identified as Frequent Court Visitor
The deceased has been identified as Mahesh Kumar, 40, son of Ramegowda and a resident of Lakshmisagara village in Melukote hobli. According to police sources, Kumar worked as an autorickshaw driver in Bengaluru but frequently visited Pandavapura to attend court cases and other commitments. On the fateful day, Kumar had arrived in Pandavapura specifically for a court hearing.
Later that same day, the victim attended a friend's wedding ceremony at Jakanahalli Circle and subsequently joined friends for a night party. The tragic sequence of events began unfolding around midnight when Kumar was traveling on a motorcycle with his friends. The group made a stop near Amruthi village to drop off one of his companions when they were suddenly ambushed.
Police Launch Manhunt for Assailants
Senior police officials including Superintendent of Police Mallikarjuna Baladandi and Additional District SP SE Gangadharaswamy immediately visited the crime scene at Amruthi village following the incident. Recognizing the seriousness of the case, the SP has constituted two special teams to track down the accused persons involved in this brutal murder.
A formal case has been registered at the Melukote police station, and investigations are currently underway. The police are exploring all possible angles, including personal enmities and previous criminal associations that might have led to this violent attack. Local sources indicate that the manner of execution suggests the involvement of multiple perpetrators who were waiting for an opportune moment to strike.
