Mangaluru Police Case Against 13 Accounts for Hate Posts

In a decisive move against online hate speech, the Mangaluru City Police have initiated legal action on their own accord against multiple social media accounts. The authorities have registered a suo motu case targeting accounts that allegedly disseminated threatening and inflammatory content across platforms.

Police Monitoring Uncovers Disturbing Posts

The case originated from proactive social media surveillance conducted by the police on Tuesday. Police Sub-Inspector Anitha Nikkam from Kankanady Town Police Station was monitoring online activity when she came across alarming material. Her attention was drawn to an Instagram handle named 'team_targetttt_900', which had shared a message inciting hatred alongside a photograph of lethal weapons.

This was not an isolated incident. During the same monitoring session, another account, 'team_nagara_900', was found to have posted a provocative message targeting Bharath Kumdelu, a known activist. The post featured his picture and was further tagged to another account, 'KARAVALI-OFFICIAL', amplifying its reach.

List of Accounts Facing Police Scrutiny

Investigations revealed a network of accounts involved in similar activities. The police have named a total of thirteen accounts in their suo motu case. Alongside the two initially discovered, the following handles are also under the scanner for allegedly sharing provocative content:

  • immu_bhai.fan
  • target_boy_900
  • kings_of_manglore
  • team_target_boys.900
  • arshad_mangalore
  • target_ka19_ullal
  • team_target__
  • troll_tigersz_900
  • tr_group_900
  • team_target_900

Legal Repercussions and Zero-Tolerance Stance

By filing this suo motu case, the Mangaluru City Police have demonstrated a zero-tolerance policy towards content designed to threaten public order or intimidate individuals. This legal step empowers them to formally investigate the origins of these posts, identify the individuals behind the accounts, and take appropriate action under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.

The incident underscores the increasing vigilance of law enforcement agencies in Karnataka regarding the misuse of social media. The police action sends a clear message that online platforms cannot be used as a shield for spreading hate or issuing threats. The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to trace the perpetrators behind the anonymous accounts.
