In a significant breakthrough, the Manipal police have successfully rescued a kidnapped man and arrested four accused following a coordinated interstate operation. The arrested individuals are identified as Ramanath Shreenu, 30, Mohan Ramavath, 22, Paramesh, 30, and Palthya Vijay, 25, all hailing from Devarakonda taluk in Nelagonda district, Telangana.
Details of the Kidnapping Incident
According to the official complaint, the incident unfolded on March 31. Rama Madivala of Dasaramakki, Kundapur taluk, reported to the police station that his brother Lakshman was receiving treatment at KMC Hospital in Manipal. Around 12:15 PM, while Rama, along with his brothers Rajesh and Sudheer, was having tea at a canteen outside the hospital, a group of seven to eight individuals arrived in a black car without a number plate.
They allegedly attempted to apprehend Rajesh, who initially tried to escape but was eventually overpowered. The assailants forcibly took him and drove away towards Hiriyadka. The complainant noted that the accused were known to the family, having previously visited their house in connection with business dealings. The individuals involved in the kidnapping were named as Mallareddy, Tulaja, Narasinga, Hussain, Shankar, Nagesh, Parameshwar, and Vijay, with the crime reportedly linked to a business dispute in Telangana.
Police Investigation and Operation
To crack the case, a special team was swiftly formed under the leadership of Manipal police inspector Mahesh Prasad. The team included PSI Thimmesh BN, Udupi Cyber Police PSI Sudarshan Doddmani, and other dedicated staff members. Acting on crucial leads, the team traced the accused to a lodge at Govindapalli in Karimnagar, Telangana.
In a meticulously planned operation conducted at 3:30 AM on April 9, police arrested the four accused. During the raid, they also seized two vehicles used in the crime, both of which were without number plates, adding to the evidence against the perpetrators.
Rescue and Preliminary Findings
The kidnapped person was successfully traced and safely rescued during the operation. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim had collected money for investment trading but failed to provide returns, leading to his kidnapping by the accused. This business-related motive has been highlighted as a key factor in the crime.
Further investigation is currently underway to uncover additional details and ensure all individuals involved are brought to justice. The police are continuing their efforts to track down the remaining suspects named in the complaint.
The successful rescue and arrests underscore the effectiveness of interstate coordination in tackling serious crimes, providing relief to the victim and his family while sending a strong message against such unlawful activities.
