Masked Motorcycle Gang Loots Rs 9.5 Lakh Jewellery from Gold Trader in Dumka
In a brazen daylight robbery, four masked men on motorcycles looted jewellery worth nearly Rs 9.5 lakh from a gold trader in the Taljhari police station area of Dumka district on Wednesday evening. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted an intensive police investigation.
Details of the Armed Robbery
The robbery occurred near Taljhari Haat, a bustling market area, when the four masked miscreants riding two motorcycles intercepted Dilip Kumar Sah, a resident of Kushmaha village. Dilip was returning home from his shop on his own bike, accompanied by his relative Harinandan Sah, when they were suddenly surrounded by the two approaching motorcycles.
The armed assailants held both Dilip and Harinandan at gunpoint, creating a terrifying situation for the victims. Without hesitation, the robbers seized the bag containing the valuable jewellery that Dilip was carrying. The entire incident unfolded quickly, leaving the victims shaken but physically unharmed.
Value and Composition of Stolen Items
The stolen jewellery had significant monetary and material value, including:
- 2 kilograms of silver jewellery
- 35 grams of gold jewellery
According to current market rates, the total estimated value of these stolen items amounts to approximately Rs 9.5 lakh. The substantial quantity of silver, in particular, represents a considerable loss for the gold trader.
Police Response and Investigation
Local law enforcement has launched a comprehensive investigation into the robbery. A police officer involved in the case stated, "Raids are being conducted at suspected locations, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the culprits."
The police are pursuing multiple investigative angles, including:
- Analyzing surveillance footage from cameras in the vicinity of Taljhari Haat
- Conducting raids at locations where the suspects might be hiding
- Interviewing witnesses and gathering additional evidence from the crime scene
This incident highlights growing concerns about security in the region, particularly for business owners transporting valuable goods. The use of motorcycles by the perpetrators suggests a planned operation designed for quick escape through the area's road networks.
