Masked Motorcycle Assailants Rob Gas Agency Employee of Rs 3.5 Lakh in Mohali
In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, two masked motorcycle-borne assailants brazenly robbed a gas agency employee of approximately Rs 3.5 lakh in the Kharar area of Mohali on Thursday afternoon. The robbery, which involved the firing of gunshots to terrorize the victims, occurred near Peer Sohana and has triggered widespread panic and serious concerns over law and order in the locality.
Details of the Brazen Daylight Robbery
According to police reports, the victim, identified as Vipin, an employee at the warehouse of Pansup Gas Agency, was carrying the cash on his motorcycle. He was accompanied by an acquaintance named Dharampal. The duo had reportedly collected around Rs 3.5 lakh and were on their way when the incident unfolded.
The assailants, riding another motorcycle, approached Vipin and Dharampal from behind near Peer Sohana. In a terrifying escalation, one of the masked men allegedly struck Vipin with the butt of a pistol. When both victims attempted to resist, the accused fired a shot into the air, causing immediate panic in the surrounding area.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers then fired another shot towards the ground near the victims' feet, forcing them to back off and creating a window of opportunity. Taking full advantage of the chaotic situation, the accused swiftly snatched the bag containing the cash and sped away from the spot on their motorcycle.
Police Response and Investigation Underway
Police from the Sadar Kharar police station reached the scene promptly after receiving information about the robbery. Kharar DSP Karan Singh Sandhu confirmed that statements from the victims have been recorded and a thorough investigation has been initiated.
The investigation currently focuses on analyzing CCTV footage from nearby establishments to identify and trace the accused. Police have registered a case against unidentified assailants under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act at the Kharar Sadar police station.
DSP Sandhu emphasized that a case of robbery along with provisions of the Arms Act will be formally registered against the unidentified persons. The incident has raised significant alarms about public safety, with residents expressing anxiety over the audacious nature of the crime in broad daylight.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they intensify efforts to apprehend the culprits and restore a sense of security in the Kharar area.
