Police officials confirmed the arrest on Saturday, revealing that the child's body was discovered in a field on Friday morning, just hours after he was reported missing.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dhananjay Singh, the accused, a resident of Aligarh, was temporarily working at a relative's house in the village. Coincidentally, the victim's father was also employed as a laborer at the same location. On Thursday night, the mason, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lured the young boy to a nearby field with wrongful intentions. When the child resisted the assault, the accused, fearing exposure and capture, resorted to violence.
During police interrogation, the mason confessed to striking the boy on the head with a heavy object, resulting in instant death due to severe head injuries. He then abandoned the body in the field before fleeing the scene.
Police Investigation and Response
The grim discovery of the body on Friday morning sent waves of panic throughout the village. Police teams swiftly arrived at the location, sealing off the area and initiating a thorough investigation. Senior officials visited the crime scene to oversee the proceedings, while a forensic team was deployed to collect crucial evidence from the field.
Authorities have since arrested the accused and sent him to jail. A formal case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 103(1), pertaining to murder, and 238, related to causing the disappearance of evidence. The police emphasized their commitment to ensuring justice in this heartbreaking case.
Community Impact and Family Grief
The incident has left the entire village in a state of profound shock and mourning. The child's family, particularly his parents, are inconsolable as they grapple with the loss. In a poignant turn of events, the boy's mother, who had been living separately for the past three years due to a family dispute, returned to the village immediately upon hearing the tragic news of her son's death.
This case underscores the urgent need for heightened vigilance and stronger community safety measures in rural areas. As the investigation continues, local residents are calling for swift legal action to prevent such atrocities in the future.
