A 25-year-old medical student was brutally stabbed to death in her paying guest (PG) accommodation in Patiala, Punjab, sending shockwaves through the local community. The incident came to light when the student's blood-soaked body was discovered by her roommate in their shared room late Tuesday evening.

The victim, identified as Dr. Ananya Sharma, was a second-year postgraduate student at the Government Medical College, Patiala. She had been residing in a PG facility near the college campus. According to preliminary police reports, the assailant entered the room while the victim was alone and attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting multiple stab wounds.
