Real Estate Developer Arrested in Mhow for Duping Army Officers of Lakhs
In a significant development, the Badgonda police in Mhow have arrested a real estate company owner for allegedly defrauding two Army officers of lakhs of rupees in a property sale scam. The arrest was made from a township located on the Rau–Dewas bypass road, marking a crucial breakthrough in the case.

Badgonda police station in-charge Prakash Waskale provided detailed insights to media persons regarding the arrest. A formal case was registered against the accused, identified as Mohd Anis, on January 24, following complaints filed by two Army officers: Lt Col Himanshu Singh and Col Varun Vaidhya. The accused had been evading arrest since the case was filed, but was finally apprehended based on a specific tip-off that led a police team to the township.
Waskale elaborated on the fraudulent activities, stating, "Anis allegedly duped Col Vaidhya of Rs 24.15 lakh and Lt Col Singh of Rs 21.28 lakh. The fraud was perpetrated under the pretext of selling plots in a colony land being developed under the name of Raya Estate in 2021, when both officers were posted at Mhow."
How the Scam Unfolded
The officers entered into formal agreements with Anis at the time of making the payments, believing they were securing legitimate property investments. However, when they subsequently requested the registration of the property, Anis repeatedly delayed the process with various excuses.
By the time the officers' tenure in Mhow was completed and they were posted elsewhere, the property registration remained pending. The complainants alleged in their official statements that they made multiple trips to Mhow specifically to complete the registration formalities, but Anis consistently avoided meeting them.
Frustrated by what they described as false commitments and deliberate evasion, the officers eventually filed a formal complaint at the Badgonda police station, initiating the legal proceedings that led to the recent arrest.
