Milk Booth Operator Fatally Assaulted in Bihar Village Following Minor Dispute
A tragic incident unfolded in Khiridad village under the Sanhoula police station area of Kahalgaon subdivision in Bhagalpur district, where a 55-year-old milk booth operator was allegedly beaten to death by a group led by his neighbor. The violent altercation occurred late on Friday night, stemming from what began as a minor dispute over a stray goat.
Details of the Fatal Altercation
The deceased, identified as Subodh Mandal, operated a dairy business in the village. According to the police FIR registered based on the statement of his elder son Chandan, the incident escalated when a goat belonging to their neighbor Ramdhari Mandal entered the family's home while Chandan's mother was cooking.
"When the family attempted to drive the animal out of their house, Ramdhari objected vehemently and began abusing them," Chandan stated in his police complaint. "He questioned why they were pushing the goat, expressing concern that it might get injured."
Escalation and Assault
As the argument intensified, Ramdhari Mandal and his associates allegedly dragged Subodh Mandal out of the house and assaulted him brutally in front of family members. "My father sustained serious injuries during the assault and he later died," Chandan alleged in his formal statement to the authorities.
Chandan named four individuals as the accused in the case: Ramdhari Mandal, Golu Mandal, Anita Devi, and Rahul Kumar. Police sources revealed that there had been a previous minor dispute between the two parties approximately fifteen days earlier, suggesting ongoing tensions in the neighborhood.

Sanhoula police have taken swift action following the incident. On Saturday, they detained two suspects—Ramdhari Mandal and Golu Mandal—for questioning. Station House Officer Rupesh Kumar confirmed that raids are currently being conducted to apprehend the other two accused, who are currently absconding.
The police have sent Subodh Mandal's body to a government hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather forensic evidence. The investigation remains active as authorities work to piece together the complete sequence of events leading to the fatal assault.
