A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth known to her in a village in Supaul district on Sunday night. The victim's family lodged a complaint at the local police station on Monday morning.
Incident Details
According to the complaint, the youth allegedly called the minor to the back of her house and raped her. When she resisted, he allegedly beat her until she lost consciousness before fleeing. The family found the girl unconscious in the early hours of Monday.
Family members said they returned home around 1:30 am from a 'shradh' ritual in the neighborhood and found the girl missing from her room. After searching the area, they located her around 3 am in a field south of the house in an unconscious state. She was taken to the sub-divisional hospital for treatment. After regaining consciousness, she informed her family about the incident.
Police Response
The family reached the local police station and submitted a written complaint, demanding action against the youth. They told police the survivor is a minor and sought a fair probe and early arrest.
SHO Nand Kishore Nandan said, "A rape complaint has been received from the victim's family. The medical examination of the victim was conducted at the sub-divisional hospital. We are verifying the allegations and conducting raids to nab the youth. Further legal action will be taken based on facts that emerge during the investigation and medical reports."
