The Tense Hostage Situation in Najibabad

The drama began at around 7 pm on Wednesday in a clothing shop located in the bustling market area of Najibabad town. According to reports, two minor girls had visited the shop. Suddenly, a 24-year-old man, whose face was covered and who was wrapped in a shawl, entered the premises. Without warning, he brandished a knife and held it to the throat of one of the girls, taking her hostage.

The assailant then turned his demands towards the terrified shop owner. He allegedly asked for Rs 1 lakh in cash and a motorcycle as a condition for releasing the young victim. The girl's cries for help alerted people in the vicinity, setting the stage for a police intervention.

Swift Police Action and Rescue

Fortuitously, a police patrol team was in the nearby area. Najibabad Circle Officer Nitesh Pratap Singh and Station House Officer Rahul Singh immediately rushed to the scene with their team upon receiving the alert. Demonstrating prompt efficiency, the officers managed to apprehend the accused man on the spot.

The minor girl was safely rescued from his clutches. However, during the struggle to free her, the victim sustained a minor knife scratch. Authorities confirmed that she received immediate medical attention following the traumatic ordeal.

Intoxicated Accused Wanted to Go to Jail

Post-arrest, the behavior of the accused added a bizarre twist to the incident. Police officials reported that the man was intoxicated and shouted loudly at the scene, repeatedly stating that he wanted to go to jail. His motives remain under investigation as police work to piece together the events leading to the crime.

During initial questioning, the arrested individual identified himself as a resident of Barabanki. He told investigators that he had arrived in Najibabad by train just that evening. After disembarking, he proceeded directly to the crowded market on Station Road, where he carried out the brazen act.

Circle Officer Nitesh Pratap Singh confirmed that the man is now in police custody. A thorough investigation is underway to gather more information about his background and to verify his statements. The police are also examining all aspects of the case to ensure appropriate legal action is taken.
