Two Minor Boys Rescued from Murudeshwar Express in Udupi After Ticketless Travel
In a swift and coordinated rescue operation, two minor boys traveling without tickets were found and rescued from the general coach of train No. 16585, the Murudeshwar Express, on Thursday. The incident occurred while the train was journeying from Mandya, highlighting the vigilance of railway personnel in ensuring passenger safety.
Timely Alert Leads to Immediate Intervention
The rescue was initiated after TTE Shetty, a traveling ticket examiner, detected the boys in the general coach and promptly alerted ASI Surjith Singh of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Udupi. This timely information-sharing set the stage for a rapid response as the train approached Udupi railway station.
Upon the train's arrival at Udupi station at 10:54 am, a team including Sabitha, Surjith Kumar, and Sunil immediately intervened. They successfully rescued the two children, ensuring their well-being and preventing any potential harm during their unauthorized travel.
Legal Formalities and Handover to Child Help-Desk
Following the rescue, the railway personnel completed all necessary legal formalities to address the situation appropriately. The minors were then handed over to the child help-desk in Udupi for further procedures, which may include reunification with their families or placement under child protection services.
This step underscores the commitment of railway authorities to not only enforce ticketing rules but also prioritize the safety and welfare of vulnerable passengers, especially children.
Commitment to Child Safety and Passenger Welfare
Konkan Railway officials have praised the coordinated effort, alertness, and prompt response demonstrated by the railway and RPF personnel involved in this incident. In a statement, they emphasized that such actions reflect a strong dedication to child safety and overall passenger welfare within the railway system.
The successful rescue operation serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and teamwork in handling emergencies on trains. It also highlights the ongoing efforts by Indian railways to protect minors and ensure a secure travel environment for all passengers.
