Missing Class 11 Girl Found Dead in Giridih

Bokaro: Two days after a Class 11 girl student reportedly went missing, her body was discovered near the Usri river under the old bridge at Barganda, within the Muffasil police station limits of Giridih, on Wednesday, police said.

Victim Identified

The deceased was identified as Payal Kumari (17), a resident of Ward No. 12 Sirsia under Muffasil police station. Payal was pursuing her studies while also undergoing tailoring training and tutoring schoolchildren.

Sequence of Events

Quoting the deceased’s father, Jageshwar Das, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Jitvahan Oraon said, “Payal left home on Monday morning stating that she was going for computer classes and teaching children in Patel Nagar, as part of her daily routine. She usually returns home around 2 pm. When she did not return, her mother rang her. Payal reportedly said she was leaving after completing tailoring work at a block centre and would reach home in 10 minutes. Another call around 3 pm found her mobile switched off.”

Police Investigation

After the family members lodged a missing complaint, police launched a search, checked mobile records and questioned friends. The matter is under investigation, the SDPO added. Authorities are exploring all possible angles, including foul play, as the case continues to develop.
