A 32-year-old factory worker who had been missing since Friday was discovered murdered in a fallow field near Dashlana village in Viramgam taluka on Sunday evening, according to police. The victim has been identified as Sanjay Vaghela, a resident of Ukhlod village in Ahmedabad district. His elder brother, Kirti Vaghela, filed a complaint with Viramgam rural police against unidentified individuals for murder.
Details of the Incident
As per the First Information Report (FIR), Sanjay was employed at a private company in Karshanpura. Family members informed the police that he left home around 6 a.m. on May 8, stating he was going to work, but failed to return home that night. Initially, the family assumed he might have stayed for an extra shift, as he occasionally worked double shifts. However, when repeated calls to his mobile phone went unanswered and later the phone was switched off, the family began searching for him and contacted relatives and his co-workers.
One of his colleagues informed the family that Sanjay had not reported for work that day. Another co-worker, Bharat, stated that he and Sanjay left the factory together around 7:30 p.m. on May 8 and briefly stopped at Endla crossroads. According to Bharat's statement, Sanjay then mentioned he was going to meet a relative before departing. Later that night, another colleague informed the family that Sanjay's motorcycle had been found abandoned near the Rupen Hotel in Dashlana village.
Discovery of the Body
The family and relatives continued searching in nearby areas until Sunday evening, when they discovered Sanjay's body in a field opposite a petrol pump near the highway. Police reported that the body bore multiple injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon on the neck, abdomen, shoulder, and other parts of the body. Blood stains were found on his clothes, and the body had started decomposing.
Police have registered a case of murder against unidentified persons and have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the killing. Authorities are examining evidence and interviewing potential witnesses to identify the perpetrators.
