Bodies of Two Missing Friends Found in Submerged Car After 39 Days in Tonk

The bodies of two friends who had been missing for 39 days were discovered on Monday inside a submerged car in Ramsagar pond near Awan town, under the jurisdiction of the Duni police station in Tonk district. The grim discovery was made by villagers who spotted the vehicle in the morning and immediately alerted the police.

Identification and Family Notification

The deceased have been identified as 43-year-old Ramesh Gurjar and 40-year-old Mahavir Gurjar, both residents of Ren village in Bundi district. Police were able to identify the individuals through the car's registration number, after which they promptly informed the families. The families had reported the two men missing since January 8, initiating a search that lasted over a month.

Challenging Recovery Operation

Initial attempts to retrieve the car from the pond using a tractor proved unsuccessful due to the depth and conditions of the water. Authorities then brought in an earthmover to successfully pull the vehicle from the submerged location. Upon recovery, police noted that the bodies had been underwater for an extended period, leading to significant decomposition.

Police Investigation and Preliminary Findings

Tonk Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Meena provided details on the case, stating, "Both men had been unaccounted for since early January, prompting their families to file a missing report with local police." Preliminary findings suggest that the men likely died of suffocation after the vehicle entered the pond. Both bodies were found on the rear seat, and investigators believe they may have attempted to assist each other as the car filled with water and the doors could not be opened.

Suspected Circumstances and Ongoing Probe

Police suspect that the vehicle may have gone into the pond at a turn on the road late at night while the two were returning home in a car borrowed from a relative. Meena emphasized that the exact circumstances of death will be determined after further investigation, which is currently ongoing to piece together the events leading to this tragic incident.
