Agra Toll Employee Assaulted by MLA's Son, FIR Registered Under BNS
In a shocking incident that has ignited public fury, police in Agra have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Suresh Chaudhary, the son of Fatehpur Sikri BJP MLA Chaudhary Babulal. The case stems from allegations that Suresh Chaudhary brutally assaulted a toll plaza employee and issued death threats, warning the worker "he won't reach home alive." The FIR has been filed under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt.
Employee's Harrowing Account of the Assault
In his detailed police complaint, toll employee Sanjay Singh, who had been working at the Raibha toll plaza for approximately two years, recounted the terrifying events of February 24. According to Singh, a vehicle adorned with an "MLA" sticker arrived at the plaza around 11:02 AM. The driver demanded the barrier be lifted immediately.
"When I asked, 'Are you an MLA? Please show your ID,' the man sitting inside stepped out and started beating me," Singh stated in his complaint. "He then said, 'I'm Suresh Chaudhary, son of the local MLA. If you stop this car again, I will shoot you.'"
The ordeal did not end at the toll plaza. Singh further alleged that later that evening, as he left for home, he was followed by four individuals on two motorcycles. They reportedly trailed him and threatened him with "dire consequences," intensifying the climate of fear.
Family Forced to Flee Due to Threats
The intimidation was so severe that Sanjay Singh's family felt compelled to abandon their home. His elder brother, Veeru Singh, revealed that the family had to relocate to a relative's house in another state due to overwhelming "fear and threat." Veeru Singh also disclosed to the media that an "agreement" letter was submitted to the police under duress from the opposing side, highlighting the pressure tactics allegedly employed.
Police Investigation Underway
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Achhnera) Shailendra Singh confirmed that an FIR has been officially registered and a thorough probe has been initiated. "Further action will be taken as per the law," the ACP assured. An officer familiar with the case provided additional context, noting the incident occurred when Chaudhary was traveling towards Gwalior in a black vehicle bearing MLA signage. The boom barrier was lowered for standard verification because the vehicle lacked a FASTag, a routine procedure that apparently triggered the violent response.
MLA's Counter-Allegations and Public Outrage
In a contrasting narrative, MLA Babulal Chaudhary has accused the toll staff of "misconduct." He claimed that even after the vehicle was identified as belonging to an MLA, the employees began misbehaving with his son, which allegedly provoked the altercation. However, these claims have done little to quell the public outcry.
The case was formally registered at the Achhnera police station on Friday night following the 24-year-old toll employee's complaint. Charges have been filed under BNS sections 115, 351, and 352, which cover criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt, and intentional insults. Compounding the controversy, CCTV footage of the assault has been widely circulated on social media and digital platforms, amplifying demands for justice. The Raibha toll plaza is strategically located on a road connecting two towns within Agra district, making it a focal point for local commuters.
This incident underscores ongoing concerns about the abuse of power and the safety of public service workers. As the police investigation progresses, all eyes are on the authorities to ensure a fair and transparent legal process, delivering justice without bias or influence.
