Moradabad Honour Killing Case: Couple's Bodies Recovered, Two Brothers Arrested
In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, the bodies of a young couple were discovered in the Pakbada police station area of Moradabad district on Wednesday evening. The victims, identified as 24-year-old Mohd Arman and 18-year-old Kajal Saini, had been missing for three days before their remains were found behind a temple on the outskirts of Umri Sabzipur village.
Police Suspect Honour Killing Motive
Police authorities have strongly indicated that this case appears to be an honour killing. According to preliminary investigations, Arman had gone to meet Kajal on Sunday night, which allegedly infuriated her relatives. The police report suggests that Kajal's family members brutally assaulted both individuals before ultimately killing them.
The investigation revealed that after the murder, the perpetrators buried the bodies near the Gagan River in an attempt to conceal their crime.
Breakthrough in the Investigation
The case took a significant turn when Arman's family approached Senior Superintendent of Police Satpal Antil, who immediately instituted a thorough inquiry. During intensive questioning by police officials, members of Kajal's family eventually broke down and disclosed the location where they had buried the bodies.
Further investigation uncovered that Kajal's brothers were responsible for the double murder. When questioned by authorities, the brothers confessed to their involvement and provided information that led to the recovery of the victims' remains.
Arrests and Evidence Recovery
Based on a First Information Report lodged by the young man's family, police have arrested two brothers—identified as Rinku Saini and Satish Saini. Superintendent of Police (City) Kumar Ranvijay confirmed the arrests and stated that a shovel used in the crime has also been recovered as crucial evidence.
"The couple was in a relationship and had gone missing together," revealed village pradhan Pranav Saini. He added that a missing person report had been filed earlier in the day, with the bodies being discovered later that same evening.
Community Tension and Police Response
Following the exhumation of the bodies, significant tension prevailed in the area as people from both communities gathered at the site. Senior police officers rushed to the location to manage the situation, with additional police force including Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel being deployed to maintain law and order.
The incident has highlighted ongoing concerns about honour-based violence in certain communities and the challenges faced by inter-community relationships in some regions of Uttar Pradesh.
