The victim, identified as Ayush Kumar, was found dead near a pond in Ratanpur village under the jurisdiction of the Barharwa police station on February 7. The arrests were confirmed by police officials on Thursday, following a detailed investigation into the tragic incident.
Police Investigation Reveals Motive Behind the Crime
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Nitin Khandelwal provided crucial insights into the case, stating that the primary motive behind the murder was an illicit relationship between the accused, coupled with ongoing family disputes. Khandelwal emphasized that the relationship had been a source of tension within the family, ultimately leading to the fatal confrontation. The police investigation was initiated after Ayush's father filed a formal complaint at the Barharwa police station on February 9, two days after the discovery of his son's body.
Arrests Made Based on Technical Evidence and Interrogation
Through meticulous analysis of technical evidence and intensive interrogation sessions, the police were able to identify and apprehend the suspects. The arrested individuals are the victim's mother, Meera Devi, aged 33, and his maternal cousin, Rohit Saha, aged 30. According to SDPO Khandelwal, Meera and Rohit had been involved in an illicit relationship for approximately two years, which they kept hidden from the family.
Details of the Incident Emerge
The SDPO further elaborated on the events leading up to the murder. On the day of the incident, Ayush reportedly caught Meera and Rohit in a compromising position while his father was away from home. Fearing that their secret relationship would be exposed, the duo allegedly strangled Ayush to death in a desperate attempt to silence him. After committing the crime, they attempted to conceal the body to avoid detection, but their efforts were thwarted by the subsequent police investigation.
