A woman fighting for custody of her 5-year-old daughter allegedly kidnapped the child in Mohali, but her plan was short-lived as police tracked her down and rescued the girl within hours. The woman was arrested, while three accomplices remain at large.

The incident occurred in Kurali, where the girl was forcefully taken by a group of four to five men, accompanied by her mother, while her grandparents were bringing her home from school. The entire episode was captured on CCTV cameras in the area.
Custody Dispute Background
SP (rural) Manpreet Singh stated that the abduction is linked to an ongoing matrimonial dispute over the child's custody, which is currently sub judice. The mother allegedly conspired with her brothers to snatch the child from the grandparents as they entered their house after school.
Police Action
Police launched an investigation, gathered CCTV footage, and traced the accused. The child was rescued from her mother at a different location, not from the woman's residence. The father reported that the kidnappers attacked his parents, injuring his mother, Bhupinder Kaur, who was allegedly run over by a car.
