Motorcycle Gang Unleashes Terror in Jagraon Market Attack
A coordinated group of motorcycle-borne assailants created chaos and fear in the bustling Kukkad Chowk market of Jagraon on Tuesday night, launching an unprovoked assault that resulted in injuries and widespread panic among local traders and shoppers.
Violent Onslaught Paralyzes Commercial Hub
Approximately fifteen masked men arrived on motorcycles and immediately began hurling stones and bricks at shopfronts, shattering glass windows and display cases in what witnesses described as a "riot-like situation." The sudden violence forced terrified shopkeepers to hastily pull down their shutters, effectively bringing commercial activity in the area to a complete standstill.
Two individuals sustained injuries during the attack, including one man who collapsed on the road after being struck by a brick. Both victims required immediate medical attention and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The aftermath left market roads littered with debris, including broken glass and scattered bricks.
Traders Express Anger and Vulnerability
The brazen attack has sparked significant resentment within the local business community, with many traders expressing feelings of vulnerability and demanding immediate action from authorities. Kamal Kumar, owner of a dupatta shop that was specifically targeted during the violence, voiced concerns about the audacity of the attackers.
"The incident has triggered widespread panic," a local source revealed. "There is a deep sense of resentment among traders who are demanding immediate and stern action to prevent Jagraon from descending into lawlessness."
Police Investigation Intensifies
Jagraon City police have launched a formal investigation after video footage of the incident circulated on social media platforms. While the specific motive behind the attack remains unclear at this stage, investigators believe they are making significant progress in identifying those responsible.
Inspector Parminder Singh confirmed that several youths involved in the violence have already been identified through careful examination of CCTV footage and mobile-phone recordings captured during the incident. Special police teams are currently conducting raids across the area with the goal of apprehending the suspects, who remain at large.
The Station House Officer emphasized that "strict legal action" would be taken against all perpetrators, with the intention of creating a strong deterrent against similar acts of hooliganism in the future.
