A deputy collector in Madhya Pradesh has been arrested following allegations of rape made by a woman in Morena district. The accused official, who was posted in Morena, was taken into custody by the Civil Lines Police on Wednesday night. He was subsequently remanded to judicial custody until June 19 by a district court.

Details of the Complaint

According to police, the woman filed a complaint on June 3, stating that she befriended the accused on social media, after which he proposed marriage. The complainant alleged that the accused sexually exploited her under the false pretext of marriage between March 30, 2025, and June 3, 2026, at various locations. Following the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The FIR also names an associate of the accused for allegedly threatening the complainant to force a settlement.

Accused's Denial and Medical Incident

The accused official denied all allegations, claiming he does not know the woman and is hearing her name for the first time. After his arrest on Wednesday night, the accused experienced a sudden spike in blood pressure and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment at approximately 4:00 AM on Thursday before being produced in court.

Previous Suspension and Current Status

In September 2025, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had directed the suspension of the accused official following separate complaints regarding improper conduct. Following his arrest, the accused was suspended from his services on Thursday afternoon.
