The alleged harassment took place on Tuesday evening as the woman was traveling home from work. She boarded a Thane-bound slow local train from Dadar station and was seated in the ladies compartment. According to her police complaint, while checking her phone, she noticed the accused man in the adjacent disabled coach, where he was allegedly masturbating.

- The woman, taken aback by the incident, quickly captured a photograph of the accused as evidence.
- Upon alighting at Thane station, she immediately informed two male co-travelers about the situation.
- She then proceeded to file an official complaint with the Thane GRP after the accused disembarked and left the station.
Police Investigation and Apprehension of the Accused
The case was subsequently transferred to the Kurla GRP, as Mulund station falls under their jurisdiction. Law enforcement officers launched a thorough investigation, which included:
- Reviewing CCTV footage from multiple stations between Dadar and Thane to track the suspect's movements.
- Identifying the accused in the disabled coach of a CSMT-bound slow local train during the early hours of Thursday.
- Offloading him from the train at Bhandup station for verification.
