Mother-Daughter Duo Held with Crystal Meth Worth Rs 11.4 Crore

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) apprehended a mother and her daughter aboard the Delhi–Bengaluru Rajdhani Express at Secunderabad railway station on Monday evening. Acting on specific intelligence, the DRI's Hyderabad Zonal Unit intercepted the two women, who had traveled from Delhi, and seized 11.4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine valued at approximately Rs 11.4 crore.

Seizure Details

Upon the train's arrival at Secunderabad station, DRI officials conducted a thorough search of the passengers' trolley bags. They discovered 10 plastic packets containing a white crystalline substance. The narcotic was carefully concealed to evade detection. The packets were wrapped in black polythene, covered with designer paper, and hidden within the folds of bedsheets packed inside the bags.

Field Test Confirms Drug

Using a field drug detection kit, the substance tested positive for amphetamine, commonly known as crystal meth. The contraband was seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The two accused, a 55-year-old woman and her 26-year-old daughter from Delhi, were arrested and subsequently remanded in judicial custody on Tuesday.

According to DRI officials, the duo collected the consignment in Delhi from an unknown person and were tasked with delivering it to a receiver in Bengaluru. During interrogation, the accused allegedly admitted to having previously worked as couriers for drug traffickers. The DRI is now investigating to identify the source of the drug and other individuals involved in the racket.
