Mumbai Police Arrests Man on Run for 19 Years in Theft Case

Mumbai: The Khar Police have successfully arrested an accused who had been evading law enforcement for 19 years. According to officials, Anil Shodha, aged 40, was initially booked in a theft case in 2007. After being granted bail, Shodha failed to appear for hearings at the Bandra court, leading the court to declare him an absconder and instruct the police to locate him.

Details of the Case

Shodha had previously resided in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) area but relocated to avoid detection. The Khar police surveillance squad set up a carefully planned operation and successfully apprehended Shodha from Bandra East. Following his arrest, he was produced before the court to face legal proceedings.

This arrest highlights the persistence of law enforcement agencies in tracking down long-term fugitives. The case serves as a reminder that even after nearly two decades, justice can catch up with those who attempt to flee from the law.
