A 21-year-old pedestrian who was critically injured after being struck by a speeding scooter in Bhandup West last week has succumbed to his injuries during treatment, prompting police to register a case against the rider.
According to the complaint filed by Nilesh Mangesh Bhise, a resident of Ishwarnagar Slum in Bhandup West, the deceased was identified as Sanjay Kumar Yadav. Bhise stated that Yadav was known to him for the past two years and frequently visited his house.
Bhise recounted that on June 5 at around 7:30 am, he was working on a garbage truck near Ishwar Nagar Bus Station on LBS Road when he saw Yadav emerging from a BMC public toilet and attempting to cross the road. At that moment, a blue Honda Activa scooter bearing registration number MH-01-FG-5918 allegedly approached at high speed and knocked Yadav down.
The rider reportedly identified himself as Parashuram Dhotre. Yadav sustained severe head injuries and fractures to his right leg. Bhise, along with the rider, transported the injured man to Agarwal Hospital in Mulund by rickshaw. However, the rider allegedly fled from outside the hospital. Yadav was later transferred to Sion Hospital, where he underwent treatment for head and leg injuries. Bhise stated that Yadav died during treatment on June 11.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Parashuram Dhotre for rash and negligent driving causing death. Further investigation is underway.
