Mysuru police have arrested a timber merchant and six of his associates for allegedly plotting to kill his nephew over a property dispute. The prime accused, identified as Raju, a timber merchant, had reportedly offered a monetary reward, commonly referred to as a supari, to the hired killers to eliminate his younger sister's son.
Details of the Case
According to SP Mallikarjuna Baladandi, the accused was taken into custody following a detailed investigation. During interrogation, it was revealed that Raju had conspired with six others to murder his nephew. The motive behind the plot was a long-standing property dispute within the family.
The police acted on a tip-off and apprehended the suspects before they could execute the plan. The arrested individuals are currently being questioned to ascertain the full extent of the conspiracy.
Police Investigation
SP Baladandi stated that the investigation is ongoing and more details are expected to emerge as the interrogation proceeds. The police have recovered evidence linking the accused to the plot, including communication records and financial transactions related to the supari.
The case has been registered at the local police station, and the accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for criminal conspiracy and attempt to murder.
