Mysuru Police Intensify Anti-Drug Drive with Multiple Arrests
In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Mysuru city police have apprehended five individuals, including one from Kerala, as part of their ongoing "Vimukthi" campaign aimed at eradicating drugs from the city. Service Apartment Raid Nets Kerala Suspect with MDMA
Acting on credible intelligence about MDMA distribution, the Kuvempu Nagar police conducted a targeted raid on a service apartment located in Kanakadasa Nagar on Tuesday. During the operation, they arrested Shabeer, a resident of Kasaragod district in Kerala, and confiscated MDMA with an estimated street value of Rs 4 lakh.
Upon interrogation, police discovered that Shabeer has a prior criminal record, including involvement in a robbery case registered at the Hosadurga police station in Kasaragod and a narcotics case at the Banashankari police station in Bengaluru. Investigations are currently ongoing to uncover further details and potential connections in the drug network.
In response to this incident, police have issued directives to service apartment and lodge owners across Mysuru, mandating thorough background checks before renting rooms. They are required to collect valid identification documents, such as Aadhaar cards, and mobile numbers from all occupants to enhance security and prevent illicit activities.
City Crime Branch Seizes Ganja and Arrests Four More
In a parallel operation, sleuths from the City Crime Branch (CCB) arrested four additional suspects for allegedly selling ganja. The CCB team seized 5 kilograms of the banned substance, valued at approximately Rs 8.65 lakh, and impounded a four-wheeler believed to have been used for transporting the narcotics.
The accused individuals, identified as Amjad Pasha, Ziya Khan, Muhammad Saqlain, and Syed Baig, were taken into custody within the Udayagiri police limits. This coordinated effort highlights the multi-pronged approach of Mysuru police in tackling drug peddling from various angles.
The successful CCB operation was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Muhammad Sharif Rawther, with support from Inspector Shabbir Hussain and Police Sub-Inspectors Lepaksha K, Jyothsna R, Revanasiddappa, and Anil, demonstrating effective teamwork in law enforcement.
